This heritage hotel, in São Sebastião, Angra do Heroísmo, stands on a cliff top, inside a 16th century fortress which is a unique example of military architecture.

The fortress, commonly known as the Castelinho de São Sebastião, was built on the orders of King Sebastião (hence its name), on a piece of land overlooking the Porto de Pipas bay, which was bought from Pedro do Canto e Castro.

The fortress is enclosed by high walls, part of which now lie in ruins, but two domed bastions remain intact on the city side, and on the Bay side, a turret, where the Portuguese flag used to be flown on important ceremonial occasions.

The Pousada de São Sebastião is part of the historical centre of Angra do Heroísmo, a UNESCO World Heritage City since 1983.

The rooms have modern décor and furnishings. The suite and several of the rooms have terraces with a view of the sea. All rooms have LCD cable television, air-conditioning and a safe.

The Pousada de São Sebastião, Angra do Heroísmo, has two swimming pools: one for adults and one for children, with loungers, tables and sunshades.

The guests of this design heritage hotel can taste delicious traditional dishes while enjoying a unique view of the sea and swimming pool.
